Tamara Ellis Smith

Tamara Ellis Smith is children’s book writer, focused on both middle grade and picture books. She had to work a long time to become a writer. She did a lot of other kinds of jobs, especially teaching. She became a mom. She went to school. She read a lot of books. And she wrote and wrote and wrote and wrote.

Now she writes and lives in Vermont—with her four kids, her husband, and lots of animals. Her favorite things to do are running on the trails by her house with her friends and their dogs, making soup and chocolate desserts, writing stories for kids, and – still – reading.
