Karla writes picture books, chapter books, and middle grade novels. She was born and raised in Mexico city but has since put down roots in many countries she now calls home, including France, Japan, Germany, and the U.S. Her storytelling is heavily influenced by her travels, cultural background, and the magical realism she experienced growing up. Karla currently resides in the Chicagoland area with her husband, three kids, two cats, and not enough bookshelves.
