That Deborah Underwood—it seems she can do anything she puts her mind to. And recently she put her mind to jumping formats, from picture books and early readers to young graphic novels. Here is the deal announcement:

Kate O’Sullivan at Clarion has signed Deborah Underwood’s two untitled early graphic novels in a series in which a hardboiled rat-fairy fixer and his mouse sidekick set well-known fairy tales to rights after they come off the rails, illustrated Jorge Lacera, for publication starting in winter 2025. Erin Murphy of Erin Murphy Literary Agency represented Underwood and John Cusick of Folio Jr. / Folio Literary Management represented Lacera in the deal for world rights.

We’re so pleased that Deborah will be working with Kate O’Sullivan, long-time Underwood champion and partner, again—and that she will be reunited with Jorge Lacera, who also illustrated Deborah’s XO, EXOPLANET!
