Janet Fox is best known for her middle-grade and YA novels with touches of romance, history, and fantasy—so it may (or may not!) surprise you to know that she has an academic background in science. This really shows in her newest book-to-be: VOLCANO DREAMS, which looks at the geology and wildlife of the Yellowstone super volcano in picture book form.

Janet happens to live on the edge of Yellowstone herself, so when the VOLCANO DREAMS illustrator, Marlo Garnsworthy, wanted to visit the area, she had a built-in guide.

All of this is coming together courtesy of relatively new small press Web of Life Children's Books and founder Madeleine Dunphy. Web of Life has an existing relationship with Yellowstone and the National Park Service—so smart, since their books focus on the natural world!—and that couldn't be more perfect here. I "grew up" professionally in small publishing, so it's a pleasure to work with passionate and nimble houses like this one.

Huge congratulations on this newest deal, Janet!
