July 2019

Yes, indeed she does! The prolific and multi-faceted author of the recent young adult non-fiction titles GOOGLE IT and ELON MUSK: A MISSION TO SAVE THE WORLD, as well as the forthcoming picture book, SAVING THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, is back to her old tricks. That is to say, she is writing amazing new books and getting them published!

Here is the deal announcement that just posted last week, with everything you need to know about this delicious new book in the cookpot:

Melissa Kim at Islandport Press has acquired world rights to Anna Redding’s nonfiction picture book CHOWDER RULES: THE TRUE STORY OF AN EPIC FOOD FIGHT, about the great showdown between Maine and Manhattan over the correct way to make the beloved dish, with illustrations by Vita Lane. Ammi-Joan Paquette at Erin Murphy Literary Agency represented the author, and the illustrator represented herself. Publication is planned for Fall 2020.

 Huge congratulations, Anna!!!

I mean, honestly. Those headlines just write themselves sometimes :)

More seriously, though: What do you do when you love someone who's far away? You write letters, call on the phone and talk on the computer. And, maybe, you consider all the ways you could get from here to there.

Such of the subject matter of the newest picture book that’s coming down the pipeline from New York Times bestselling author Pat Zietlow Miller. SOMEDAY SOON is a celebration of the  many means of love and communication between two loved ones far apart, and all the ways those gaps are bridged.

This wonderful book was acquired by Connie Hsu at Roaring Brook, with illustrations by the talented Suzy Lee. Dream team? I should think so!!

Mark your calendars, folks, because this gem is coming to shelves everywhere in spring 2021.

Huge congrats, Pat!

Sometimes book news comes quick, and other times—for one reason or another—things catch the slow boat. This, my friends, is undoubtedly the latter. However, the FANTASTIC side to this is that the wonderful deal announcement which are you just now learning about is actually publishing . . . THIS MONTH!

Yep, you read that right. For those (like me) who may find it hard to believe, we are literally in July 2019 right now. What a concept.

Here’s the deal announcement, for your reading pleasure:

Aimee Friedman at Scholastic has acquired Suzanne Nelson’s SHAKE IT OFF, about a girl who is not at all happy about spending the summer mixing milkshakes on her aunt and uncle’s dairy farm, until her shakes catch the eye of a cute boy, and complications ensue. Ammi-Joan Paquette at Erin Murphy Literary Agency negotiated the deal for World rights. Publication will be in July 2019.

There are a few more weeks yet to wait, but this lovely book is dropping on July 30th—so mark those calendars. Congratulations, Suzanne!
